Oh fuck, IRONY ALERT!!!

“"Women don't know their own minds; men know better what women really want and need sexually,"

"I reject the term "sex work" as it is somehow too convenient for the men who (ab)use prostituted or prostituting women. I still acknowledge that there are some very unprivileged women in the sex trade who call themselves ’sex workers’ while feeling negative about prostitution though. And when they tell their painful stories while using the term ’sex work’, well I’m absolutely fine with that. Their stories matter as much as so many others’ who’ve been harmed in the sex trade. It is possible that their pimps or madams (and some of their johns) called it “sex work,” “a job” or “work” when they spoke to them, which makes sense why some prostituted women have internalized the term “sex work.” By contrast, however, there are some formerly prostituted women who loathe the term "sex work" because they feel that it attempts to conceal the great suffering they've experienced in the prostitution industry and that it also tries to make prostitution look "respectable" when it's not, when it is in fact a violation of a woman's body and rights. Anyway, I can fully understand both cases.
We live in a patriarchy. . . Patriarchy socialize us, fucks us over, violates us, restricts our freedom and our autonomy, etc. The list goes on. . ."

As I said somewhere else, the term ‘prostituted women’ is accurate because most women who enter prostitution do so with choices that are NOT free. So, when we say ‘prostituted women,’ we also mean that women in the sex industry are being prostituted not only by the men who sell them or buy them, but that they are also being prostituted by the whole oppressive patriarchal system and all its restrictive forms of socializations. Patriarchy limits choices. And so does porno-iarchy!

As I said: Patriarchists (that includes the few women patriarchists too), do not ever try to control my language! The language was invented by the patriarchy, and I want to obey no edict or rule given by the male-supremacist system. I use terms I want to use, terms that recognize women & girls’ oppression under patriarchy, sometimes even new terms I invent if I want to....

Because pornography tries to control sexuality; it maps out people's sex lives with the same old scenario of male-over-female domination. To me, not being able to imagine an egalitarian sexuality (that wouldn't rely on the objectification and the degradation of another human being) is myopia. I believe that sexual imagination can go beyond the boundaries of pornoiarchy.

AND...

"I also believe that women have this coping mechanism, as Sophie explained, to pretend that reality is not what it really is."

and the whole thing about not being able to have male friends? Speak for yourself....oh wait, I forget, you seem unable to do that.

Ahem. As it seems to piss you off, cupcake, stop assuming you know what other women want, need, or have experienced better than they do.

A fine fisk here as well.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

I claimed the term sex work, I fought and fight for it, and I fucking insist that I be labelled a sex worker. I don't care what flavour of "silly woman, I'll tell you what you should be called" you subscribe to, whether it's the standard misogynists who want to make "whore" a bad word or these women who think they should be allowed to say which sex workers/prostituted people should be allowed to speak and which should be silent.

That made me really fucking angry. Usually Maggie manages to piss me off, but that one got under my skin. Whorephobic shit of a thing she is.

I knew you'd beat me to it! I am just about to start a fisk of her bullshit on my blog. Yes, there are several jaw-drop moments in this latest crap from her, and no, I just CAN'T let them go unchallenged. :)

"And when they tell their painful stories while using the term ’sex work’, well I’m absolutely fine with that." - that's mighty decent of her.

"the term 'prostituted woman is accurate".... didn't you call her out on that a while back and she deleted it?

"do not ever try to control my language" - LOL!!! Fucking.... what an idiot, she's absolutely no self-awareness whatsofuckingever.

God, she's just embarrassing now. I think she needs to take herself into a corner and have a little word with herself.

It keeps approaching new depths of stupidity and cognitive dissonance with her.

That whole bit with the friends bothered me to hell. I could have taken her post seriously (even all the anti-porn rants, it's her opinion after all and she's entitled to it) but that one just left me with a 'buuuhhh?' look on my face.

Seeing as I have mainly male friends, I find that statement to be very offensive. Sure, some of my friends and I have a sexual past, but the majority of them are my FRIENDS and have never attempted anything sexual. Some of them have even DENIED advances from me or my girl-friends, due to our FRIENDSHIP that they didn't want to get messed up.

It's incredibly offensive to me and my relationships to just outright claim something like that as a reality.

Hexy- Well, we don't matter. People say I hate women, you know, I think Mags there might have me beat on that count.

Ninja- No shit, total load of crap and projection.

I RECOMMEND YOU ALL go read Deb's takedown, it is brill.

OMG! Ren, you officially have a 'content warning' on your blog now. Congratulations!

Next, damn, that shit just made my cramps go from raging to hellfire. Pornography tries to control sexuality? The frak? I just...wha? We need to make a copy of her brain pattern. It's fascinating.

I continue to be confused by these feminists who center so many of their personal decisions on what men think. Talk about androcentric! Fuck. Now I need to go take some more painkillers. Thanks alot, Mags!

As I said at Deb's : Argh.

Really, I give you and Ren credit for solidering thru this post: it hurts my head and I can only submit to a skim read. But M’s tone of speaking for all women comes thru loud and clear - really, where does she get off with this?

Aspasia said...

I posted this part at Debs' blog but I wanted to repeat it here too:

One of the more ironic quotes she has on that blog post is from that disgusting Malleus Maleficarum. The anti-sex, misogynistic tone of that tome parallels Maggie's and all her friends. The female who doesn't view lust, sensuality or sexuality as evil is seen as worthy of brutal punishment, including death. And MM, like Maggie or Heart, etc., views women uncapable of coming to this decision on their sexuality themselves (in Maleficarum, the male Satan is behind it all; for Maggie, Heart, etc. it's the patriarchy), though they are all just fine with said women paying the ultimate price for this "male" influence. Maggie's right though, literature like Malleus Maleficarum is the height of patriarchy...but she doesn't acknowledge the fact that she is saying the SAME DAMN THING but from a female mouth. How is that feminist again?

roykay said...

But should Maggie call herself a "woman". After all. that term is merely a transparently Patriarchal Construct derived from "Man" forcing the bearer of "Woman" into perpetual and implicitly hyphenated subservience. The proper anti-sexist anti-patriarchal term would be Concavely Configured H. Sapiens.

Indeed the "wo" part derives from OE "wif" from the I-E root ghwibh meaning both "shame" and "pudenda". Why she persists in promoting the paleo-Patriarchy is beyond me. Clearly she has a lot of self-hatred and examining to do.

But what can you expect from someone unwilling to face the fact that they've been ghwibhstituted.

Well, Ren, it's a drag, but I guess we're just not friends after all. I can't be friends with you or Trinity or any of the other women I talk with every day, who have been there for me when I needed their friendship most, and who welcomed mine under similar circumstances.

And as for my passionate, loving marriage with Nina, the roots of which go back 18 years, well, I guess we were just lying to ourselves the whole time.

So, I'll try to avoid oppressing any women by not writing to them from the monastery I'll be entering later today.

Brilliant and eloquent reply, Debs. Spot on, point by point. Thank you for doing some work that needed doing but couldn't have been pleasant.

Oh, dayyyyhhhhhmmnnn....Maggie's stepping in it again???

Who the hell does she think she is....The Goddess' personal representative on this Earth, armed with the unique powers to dictate to other women what their experiences should be?? I didn't know that when women were created with actual brains, that they had to get approval from St. Maggie to think thoughts for themselves....or did I miss the latest memo???

And OMF'nG'dess....."I can't be friends with men just because they all want to jump my bones and get into my panties....ahhhh, I mean, they all want to rape me???" Funny, but being such a pornhound as I'm supposed to be hasn't prevented me from having many friendships with plenty of women, all without even wanting to have sex with them, heaven forbid, force myself on them. Are you sure that that's not the GenderBorg microcode kicking in and distorting your single working brain cell, Mags???

She wants to talk about patriarchy??? Look in the damn mirror, Maggie...you are a worse patriarch than any normal porn-watching man ever could be.

And a mighty +5 to Aspasia on the Malleus Malificarum analogy...so freakin' true.

@ Ernest: Yeah, good thing you and Nina have Maggie to clarify that for ya'll. To think you tried to have a relationship with a woman without Maggie's help. For shame! Now get to work baking that bread, Brother Ernest.

@ Anthony: Thank ya much. I hate when people make references they don't understand.

BTW...not that I don't like the new comment system...but where are the freakin' gravatars??? It kinda sucks not seeing the No Prude Bandit next to my name, you know... :-(

Oh, come on now, Ernest....fess up. You know that the only reason you are befriending Ren is because you want her to be in one of you kinky productions....and you've probably done the same thing to Nina. Or...like most other typical patriarchial men, you just want to get into her panties. After all, THE GODDESS Maggie said so, so it must be TRUE.

Or....not.

The only monastery I see you entering will be the one you convert into your dungeon for sex play.

Did I ever mention how much Maggie Hays is a total whackjob nutcake....with extra nuts???

Anthony

Renegade Evolution said...

Now, now Anthony, extra nuts is SOOO patriarchal!

And Ernest wouldn't have to trick me to be in one of his kinky productions.

Aspasia said...

Frak, are nuts a tool of the patriarchy now? I've always been suspicious of those walnuts...:P

First, I have to say I love your new colour scheme, it's very easy on my eyes :).

Secondly, as a Witch myself, I would just like to say...bollocks! In a coven the High Priestess always has the final say. I was never comfortable with feminist witchcraft, nature has a balance of male and female. I really do fail to see what's threatening or negative about harmonizing and celebrating both male and female energies.

And 'Patriarchists'? Now would these be women who...oh, actually like men?

I am really sorry these women are being oppressed by such horrid men...but I have to ask 'Are they making them in some kind of special Misogyny Factory?' Cos I can't find any!

**Random Topic Shift**

I was discussing BDSM with a 73-year-old Franciscan Nun today (she didn't know what it was, so I gave her my limited understanding of it) She's my class mate one of the coolest people I've ever met. :D.

Oh my dear sweet lord. I'm not even into sex work but I'm like...

"What in the GODDAMN hell?"

....Women don't know their own minds? Men know better what women want sexually!? ....Does that blogger call herself a feminist, because I see nothing there that I personally, would call "feminist".

Is feminism, at least what I have read, not about choices? Isn't feminism about the fact that women can choose what it is that they want to do, that their choices are just as valid as any man's?

I'm starting to develop an extreme hatred of anti-porn people. To the point of wanting to hit one in the face.

Apparently, that was just a rumor.
